Witticisms

When Henry Came Home

I have a great fondness for quips, quotes and witticisms.

When Henry Came Home

When Henry Came Home

Henry Dalton came home a war hero. But he couldn't stop fighting. Inspired by Albert Camus' The Rebel

A Conversation with Demons

A man on vacation finds himself face to face with a cast of demons - demons he was secretly sent to destroy. But they are not what they seem and destroying them means destroying a part of himself.

The Garden of Two Paths

In a fairytale land, a feud erupts between gardeners, pitting the young and adventurous against the old and wise. But nature is not kind to either of them and punishes both for their arrogance.

Unified Meta-Mutation Theory of Social Adaptation

Societies can be understood as complex adaptive systems, similar to living organisms. Much like genetic mutations, they continuously evolve under the influence of various pressures.

The Orchard and the Compass

Many believe the consumption of the Forbidden Fruit was nothing more than an act of disobedience. In this essay I explore how it can be seen as the birth of the Jungian Shadow and an invitation for mankind to begin the hero's journey.

The Stream That Would Not Be Tamed

Villagers in a town with an untamed stream listen to the promises of their mayor. Ignoring the warnings of a strange by wise builder, the village learns that the easy path has unintended consequences.

Was it Worth It?

A man mocks his dog for the hollow shadow of its ancestors it has become, only to be reminded that the dog was not the only one to "take the deal."

The Trench

A survivor of the Great War imparts a precious lesson to his grandson

Fields of Fortune

Fields of Fortune

In the shadow of the city, one farmer learns to coax abundance from barren soil through patience, discipline, and skill. But when the harvest draws envy, the people seize what they do not understand, feasting for a season and starving the next. The Fields of Fortune is an allegory of wealth, memory, and the human tendency to mistake prosperity for entitlement.
